Terramalai
Terramalai (which translates to ‘The Land of Malaya Architecture’) is an authentic heritage concept resort (still in progress) dedicated to restoring every century-old traditional Malay houses from across the peninsula, located along the peaceful shores of Batu Rakit, Terengganu.
The resort features meticulously collected, relocated, and restored traditional Malay wooden houses that are over 100 years old, representing the distinct architectural styles of each Malaysian states.

Experience a private beachfront escape in our very first fully completed heritage villa. Originally built over a century ago and meticulously relocated to the shores of Batu Rakit, this architectural gem features the elegant, steeply pitched gables of traditional Minangkabau design, crafted entirely from heavy timber without a single nail. Inside, a cozy traditional attic (loteng) rests beneath the high-vaulted roof, while opening the classic wooden windows fills the space with fresh coastal breezes and uninterrupted views of the South China Sea.
Please note that Terramalai is an ongoing passion project; while this villa is completely finished, safe, and ready for your stay, the resort operates as a minimalist, self-sufficient sanctuary with a dedicated security guard on duty, but no central reception or on-site restaurant.
Terramalai is a project that is still beautifully evolving. While we continue to carefully rescue and restore more heritage structures on-site, we are thrilled to invite you to experience our very first fully finished, authentically restored villa, now open for exclusive bookings.
